Gym #1 - Boulder Badge

[Kathy]

"Geodude,Go!!"

A rock like Pokemon with two arms popped out.

"Whats that?" She took out her Pokedex,

Geodude:Found in fields and mountains. Mistaking them for boulders, people often step or trip on them.

Kathy:Okay Bolt, your up!!You may not be good against rock, but your speed beats it!! Go!"

"Pika!!"

"Quick Attack go!"

Pikachu quickly did a Quick Attack.

As it scores a direct hit, Geodude didn't take much damage.

"Geodude, use Rock Throw!!"

Geodude picked up some of the field's rocks and began hurling it at Pikachu.

[Kathy]

It scored,leaving Bolt tired.

"Come on Bolt!!Use Growl!"

Bolt began "purring"

Geodude looked like it was scared to attack.

"Ok Bolt, use Agility, then Thunder Shock!"

Bolt did what it was told

Geodude didn't take much damage, but was getting tired.

"Okay, Geodude, use Rollout!!"

[Kathy]

"Agility to dodge Bolt!!"

Bolt dodged quite easily

"Now,Agility then Thunder Shock again!!"

Bolt scored,while dodging the Rollout again.

"Now Bolt, Quick Attack!!!"

Pikachu dodged the Rollout again and hit Geodude with a Quick Attack

[Kathy]

With that, Geodude fainted

"Alright!!1 down,1 to go!!"

"Pikachu!!"

Kathy picked up Bolt

"You were great!!"

"Pika!"

She put him down a turned back to Brock

"You are a pretty good trainer, but have to be a greater trainer to defeat my Onix!!Go!"

[Kathy]

A snake rock Pokemon came out of the ball

"Whoa."

Onix:As it grows, the stone portions of its body harden to become similar to diamond, but colored black.

"You tired Bolt?"

"Pika!"Pikachu shook it's head no.

"Okay, then I'm keeping you in!!"

[Kathy]

"Onix,Tackle!!"

Onix made a direct hit

"Bolt!!"

"Err...use Thunder Shock!!"

Bolt released a Thunder Shock, but Onix didn't take it

"Onix,bind!"

"Oh no...."

Onix clutched Bolt with it's tail.

"No,Bolt!!"

"Now finish it up, Slam!"

Onix threw Bolt to the ground a slammed it hard

When Onix got up, there was Bolt,fainted

[Kathy]

Kathy rushed to it

"Oh Bolt, you battled great, take a good rest..."

She brought it back with her

"Okay,win this for me,Go!!"

Kathy threw out Dewy's PokeBall

"Char,Char,Charmander!!!" Dewy cried

"Ha!!You think a fire will defeat my Onix?"

"Ha, you haven't seen it yet,"

"Ok, so let's continue, Onix,Tackle!!"

"Dodge Dewy then use Ember!!!"

Dewy spatted out an Amber attack

It didn't do much though

"Ha,so far,so bad!!Onix,bind it"

Onix grabbed hold of Dewy and clutched it.

"No,Dewy..."

"Okay,let's win this, Slam!!"

"Oh yea, Dewy Metal Claw!!"

Dewy scratched it with Metal Claw

It was Super Effective!!

Onix let out roar, but wasn't finshed

"Onix,Slam!"

"Dodge Dewy, and finish it up,Metal Claw once more!!!!"

"Char!!" Dewy scratched it with Metal Claw again then Onix fainted

"Alright!!We did it!!!!" Kathy exclaimed

"Char,Char!!" Dewy cried happily

"Pikachu,Pika!!!" Bolt cried happily along

[Kathy]

Brock returned his Onix and look at the cheering team

Brock walked towards them with the Boulder Badge

"Since you and your strong team beat me, I will now present you your Boulder Badge"

He placed the gleaming Boulder Badge on Kathy's palm

"Thanks so much Brock" Kathy said

"And thanks for the great match!"

"Yes!I got my first badge,the Boulder Badge!!!" Kathy exclaimed holding the shiny badge

"If you are making way for the Indigo Plateau,take Route 3,it should lead you to Mt.Moon,then you can head to Cerulean for your next badge. Oh and here, take this TM"

He headed her the TM Rock Smash "Teach it to a rock Pokemon you find in Mt.Moon,good luck on your journey!!"

"Ok Brock,see ya." With that they both said good bye

[Hiro Fenrir]

Hiro entered the stone-grey gym seeing a man polishing the head of an Onix.
"Where's the gym leader?" Hiro said
"Um, I am the gym leader" the man said
"Are you the gym leader? Don't make me laugh"
"I am Brock of Pewter Gym" said Brock and withdrew his Onix
"Then this battle is already won" Hiro said

Brock looked offended and angry "SHOW HIM, GEODUDE!" Brock yelled. Hiro sent out Squirtle.
"Geodude use rock throw!"
"Dodge it and use bubble attack!"
"Geodude was hit and took alot damage
"You alright, Geodude?" Brock said. Geodude showed him that he was. "Great! Use Screech!" Squirtle couldn't avoid it.

"Squirtle use bubble-attack again!" Geodude was hit hard and fainted. "Good work Geodude, return!" said Brock and withdrew Geodude "Go, Onix!"
"Onix, use rock throw, now!" it hit Squirtle before he could dodge it. "Hang in there, Squirtle!" said Hiro "Squirtle use bubble attack!" Squirtle blew away the rocks with bubbles and hit Onix.
"Onix! Hit him with tackle!"
"Squirtle use tackle, too!" Squirtle hit first and damaged Onix a little. "Now! Finnish him with water gun!" Onix couldn't survive the water gun from so close-up and fainted. "Great battle Onix, come back..."

"Now hand over the badge, gramps" Hiro said. Before Brock could give him the badge, Squirtle started glowing white.
"About time" Hiro said. A broken Brock handed over the boulderbadge. Come on, Wartortle. Hiro said to his newly evolved turtle. "And by the way" Hiro said "If all gym leaders are as pathetic as you, this gym challenge is going to be way to easy"
Hiro left.

After a failed first attempt to defeat Brock with Tradewind, Forge, and a disobediant Fury, Meaghan knew she had to change her strategy. Several days had been spent in the fields surrounding Pewter by Meaghan and her team, now expanded by Thorn the male Nidoran and Deviant the female Mankey, the Pokemon she gave over to Nurse Joy - only to have them given to her a day or two later when no record of a trainer could be found on them. They trained hard, many times almost to the point of fainting, though Meaghan was always careful not to beat them into the ground - but they all knew that only Deviant would have the advantage in the upcoming battle and they needed to be prepared.

She entered the gym on the ninth day with a newly evolved Forge at her side, the charmeleon's skin bright from a cleaning just that morning. "Chaaarrrrrr..." He growled lowly as he spied Brock, and Meaghan approached the man and dipped her head to him. "Brock, Gym Leader of Pewter City, my Pokemon and I have come to challenge you for the Boulder Badge. Again."

Nodding his head, Brock lead them to the arena and cast out Geodude onto the rocky field. "Smokescreen!" Meaghan called out as Forge lead the charge, smoke pouring from his nostrils until the room became almost opaque with noxious black smoke. Frustrated, the Geodude tried to spy the Charmeleon, heeding his trainer's command of "Rock Polish" and rubbing itself against the stony floor until its body shimmered sleek and smooth.

"There, Rock Throw, Geodude!" "Forge, Dragon Rage!" Siezing up a small boulder, the Geodude flung it towards the streak of red through the smoke, but failed as Forge lept up, roaring out as he brought razor-sharp claws across the stony body, raising a horrid screech as he dug furrows in the Geodude.

Crying out, the Geodude slammed a heavy fist into the Charmeleon in a makeshift Rock Throw, sending Forge flying and crashing into the ground, badly injured. Meagan recalled him to avoid further damage, sending out Thorn who quickly countered a flying Tackle with a surprisingly powerful Double Kick to the face of the Geodude - at least for such a little thing as he was. The Geodude was defeated, and in his place was sent the ominous looking Onix.

A grating Screech from the Onix took the little Thorn by surprise, and in his shock the little Nidoran was siezed in a powerful Bind and was all but lost in the coils. Frantically, he tried once more to Double Kick, but it didn't succeed as well as before, so tightly was he bound, and soon he lost the strength to battle and Meaghan recalled her second Pokemon.

Sighing out, the young trainer sent forward Tradewind, the Pidgey soaring out into the open spaces of the field. Brock looked a bit taken aback at the unlikely choice, but continued on, ordering a Rock Throw from the Onix. Tradewind dived around the stone, her powerful wings kicking up a storm of sand that caked into the Onix's eyes. The stone snake couldn't see her as she twice landed Quick Attacks, though finally managed to swat her away with a Tackle. Battered, Tradewind fought to stay in the air, knowing both she and the Onix were weak. Resolved, Tradewind blew a powerful Gust at the Onix, irritating it further as the sand from earlier dug into its eyes, and with a battlecry launched herself at this weakness with another Quick Attack, her talons scoring the critical hit and felling the Onix. She was quickly returned to her Pokeball, nearly ready to black out herself, leaving Meaghan to claim the badge.

"That was a lucky last hit there," Said Brock, "Otherwise I'd have beaten that Pidgey."
Sheepishly, Meaghan nodded her head, "I knew it would be close, I didn't think we'd have it this time either. Thank you, sir, we all learned a lot."

And with her first hard-won badge, Meaghan left the gym.

Zack walks in to the Gym.

[Dark Slayer]

Dark and Ashly walked right into Brock's gym and stood next to each other, both prepared to fight the rock pokemon master. "My name is Dark Slayer, from Celedon City, and I challenge you to a pokemon match for a Boulder Badge!" Brock eyed him and smiled.

"Are you sure you're ready for that kid? You look older than one normally is when they begin training. How long have you been training?"

Straigtening, Dark hesitated for a moment. "Only a few days I suppose. But we're both ready for you!" He grabbed one of the pokeballs on his belt. "So will you accept my challenge?"

"Of course," Brock said. "Geodude, I choose you!"

"Go Aquan! Let's start this battle off with a bubble attack!" Aquan unleased a stream of bubbles, which all hit Geodude, and weakened it considerably. Then Brock had Geodude use rock throw, which Aquan tried dodging, but failed in doing so. "Alright, get ready!" As another rock came hurtling at Aquan, Dark called out, "Tackle that rock right into Geodude!" Aquan jumped up and turned, smacking the rock with its shell. Though Aquan looked hurt from it, the rock still did fly back at Geodude, whose eyes went wide before the rock smacked it right in the face. When the dust settled, all could see that Geodude had fainted.

"Geodude return! That was very impressive... however I think you damaged your Squirtle more than necessary. I don't think it'll take too much to defeat it with Onix!"

The rock snake pokemon was released and Dark gasped. He had never seen a pokemon like it. He pulled out his pokedex. "Onix. The rock snake pokemon. Its body is made of rocks as hard as diamonds, and it can easily crush smaller opponents with its bind attack."

Brock called out a bind attack and Dark called out to Aquan. "No, don't let it get you. Retaliate with a bubble!" Aquan's bubbles hit Onix in the face, making it roar out and it crashed its tail down, making Aquan stumble and fall. Then with the advantage of a fallen opponent, Brock told Onix to bind it again and slam it. The Onix's tail curled around Aquan and Dark cried out, "No! Bubble again!" But before Aquan could do anything, it was slammed down, and it had fainted.

"Looks like I was right. And if you're like other trainers I know, you won't have a pokemon as a backup good enough to take on my Onix." Brock smiled smugly.

"I wouldn't be so sure about that," Dark called out. "Stang, I choose you now! It's all up to you!" Brock laughed and called out a tackle attack. "Alright, Stang... now! Jump up into the air!" Stang jumped up and Onix missed by the tiniest margin. "Alright, now let's try out a double kick attack!" As if Stang had done this many times, which he hadn't, for Dark never needed to use the attack, he slammed his legs down, his feet hitting Onix in what Dark assumed was the neck area. The Onix roared out in pain. "Alright, now horn attack!" Stang smashed its horn into Onix again, which wouldn't have caused a lot of damage, except for the fact that Onix was already considerably weakened. Onix struggled hard to get back up, only to find Stang giving it another good double kick. Onix fell... and didn't get back up.

"Onix, return!" Brock walked over to Dark. "Your skill is incredible. You can take an opponent's attack and twist it in a way to make your own attacks be the most devastating they can be. This Boulder Badge is yours, and you have indeed earned it."

Dark grinned and put the Boulder Badge onto his trainer card. Nodding at Brock, he then turned and gave Ashly a thumbs up sign. "Your turn. You can do it."
