Gym #8 - Earth Badge

[Harry Dark]

IC

This gym has been taken over by Cassie, a strong ground type trainer, after Giovanni was exiled from Kanto. She is the last Gym Leader in Kanto, and the strongest too.
She uses a combination of Dig and Earthquake, to devastating effect.

Dugtrio Lv 43
Nidoking Lv 50
Rhyhorn Lv 42

She is very punishing to any mistakes, but is very vulnerable to water type attacks.

[Harry Dark]

Harry went into the earthy gym, ready for anything.

He sent out all his Pokemon, and had a chat.

"OK, Beedrill, you will definitely be in this battle, as Ground in non-effective on Flying Types, such as yourself. Bulbasaur, Grass is great against the ground types, you you will be in. Gastly, you ability levitate will help out here, you're third. The other three, you're joint last, as all three of you are weak to Ground types. OK, let's go Team Dark!" Harry said, and withdrew all his Pokemon.

He walked casually over to Cassie, and smiled. "Want a battle?" He

said.

Cassie grinned. "You're on. 1-on-1 battle for the Ground Badge, three Pokemon each."

Harry smiled. "Perfect." He said under his breath, as he took his place at the far end of the arena.

Harry took Beedrill's, Bulbasaur's, and Nidorino's PokeBalls off his belt and placed them on the rack beside him, on his left. Cassie did the same. Harry had had an idea, which could use Nidorino...

Cassie was a medium sized, pretty young lady. She had shoulder length hair, which was soil-brown, and wore a green shirt, often with combat trousers.

Harry took Beedrill's PokeBall, and threw it out onto the stadium. "OK Beedrill, let's go!" Harry called.

Cassie tried not to look overly annoyed at the Flying type. "OK, let's go, Nidoking!" She called, hoping it's dual Ground/Poison Type would overcome Beedrill.

She opened the battle quickly. "OK, Nidoking, Poison Tail!" She called, the massive Pokemon charging forward, it's tail glowing deep purple.

Harry smiled. "Beedrill, dodge and Twineedle!" He called and the lightning quick Beedrill flew out of the way, then drove it's Stingers into Nidoking's exposed back.

Cassie quickly countered. "Nidoking, Crunch!" She called, and the big Pokemon turned and attacked Beedrill, hitting it badly, and knocking it to the ground. Beedrill got straight back up, and was ready for another attack.

Harry looked at Nidoking. "Beedrill, Fury Attack!" He called, and the Flying Pokemon went back in.

Cassie countered even faster than before. "Nidoking, Dig a tunnel back to this end of the arena!" She called.

Nidoking got to work, and avoided Beedrill's attack.

Beedrill remembered what they had been practicing on Mt. Moon.

Learning to go into Tunnels to launch attacks.

Beedrill suddenly dived downwards, and into Nidoking's tunnel, and hit the Nidoking with repeated Fury Attacks. There was no escape for the Poison Type, and it was KOed.
It teleported back to the surface, and Cassie withdrew it, and placed it's PokeBall on the rack to her right.
Harry assumed that the teleport happened because of the fact that Pokemon who fainted underground could be withdrawn quickly, and this gym had plenty of that.

Harry withdrew Beedrill, and placed it's PokeBall on the rack to his left. He then chose Bulbasaur's PokeBall.

Cassie chose her next PokeBall, and threw it into the arena. "OK Dugtrio, let's go!"

The trio of digging Pokemon appeared, and looked pretty tough, but Harry was confident that Bulbasaur could beat them.

He threw his ball, and Bulbasaur appeared, raring to go for once.

Cassie opened again. "Dugtrio, dig!" She called, capitalizing on the fact that Bulbasaur could be hit by her Ground Type attacks.

Harry waited until he thought Dugtrio was near, then countered. "OK Bulbasaur, let's go, Razor Leaf!" He called, and Bulbasaur sent out it's razor sharp leaves in the direction of the tunnel, but they harmlessly hit the ground. A second after Bulbasaur gave up, Dugtrio sprang out of the ground, smashing into Bulbasaur with a critical hit.

Bulbasaur was OK, and Dugtrio returned along the tunnel.
As it was underground, Harry had an idea. "Bulbasaur, use Leech Seed on the soil, then use Sunny Day." He said.

Bulbasaur did this, and Cassie looked confused.

The seeds Bulbasaur had planted grew quickly into small plants, then bushed, then small trees. They had long roots.

Harry smiled as Dugtrio resurfaced. "Now Bulbasaur, use the Sunlight for a Solar Beam." He called using it as a decoy, knowing that the extra sunlight would make sure Dugtrio dodged.

Cassie fell right into the trap. "Dugtrio, use Dig!" She called. The Pokemon dodged the beam by digging into the ground.

Harry smiled, and withdrew Bulbasaur.

"OK Nidorino, let's go!" Harry called, throwing the PokeBall.

Nidorino appeared, ready to battle.

"OK, this is it." Harry said.

Cassie smiled. "Dugtrio, use Dig!" She said, but the ground Pokemon was tangled up in the roots. It couldn't move.

"Nidorino, Earthquake!" Harry called, and a worried look his Cassie's face. Nidorino stamped the ground, causing an Earthquake, which did double damage to the stranded Dugtrio. It was KOed, and Cassie withdrew it.

Cassie threw out her last PokeBall, and called, "OK, your turn Rhydon!"

The massive Pokemon appeared, and instantly charged at Nidorino, catching him by surprise, for a one-hit KO.

Harry withdrew Nidorino, and sent out Bulbasaur.

"OK Bulbasaur, Solarbeam!" Harry called.

"Rhydon, Fire Blast!" Cassie called.

Harry was confused. Fire Blast? From a Rhydon?

The two attacks collided, the fire attack pushing back the grass attack and hitting Bulbasaur, for another one-hit KO.

Harry grimaced and threw Beedrill's PokeBall.

"OK Beedrill, it's time. Finish this!" Harry said. "Use Signal Beam!" He shouted, and the tired out Rhydon had no time to react as the bizarre beam hit it, knocking it over.

"Beedrill, Twineedle!" Harry called, and Beedrill attacked the Rhydon, who couldn't fight back, and eventually fainted.

Harry cheered. The eighth badge! He could finally make his way to Indigo Plateau.

Cassie handed over the badge. "That was really well done, using Nidorino's power for an Earthquake, and Bulbasaur to trap Dugtrio. You really deserve the badge." She concluded.

Harry shook her hand. "Thanks. That Rhydon is really powerful."

He then turned to the two racks of PokeBalls, and attached them all back onto his belt.

Harry left the gym, contemplating his options for what to do next.

[iAaron]

Aaron walked into the room, his black skate shoes backing clicks against the earthy floor. It was a barren desert-like gym, with mountains, small mud pools, and a groundy flooring covering the gym. Aaron nodded to Maria and pointed out Cassie, who was absent-mindedly making a mud sculpture.

[Mariah Wolff]

Maria tilted her head, looking at her sculpture, "I like it." She said smilng at the Gym Leader.
Cassie didn't look up, "Thanks...lemme guess a Gym Battle?"

[iAaron]

"A Double-Battle, if you don't mind." Aaron smiled and stuck his hand in his pocket, looking at Cassie with a strong determination. "Cassie, are you ready to battle?"

"Sure," Cassie said, "I'm more than ready. Let's get started."

Cassie remolded her mud sculpture back into the ground and stood up, pulling back a loose strand of wavy hair. She smiled and pushed a button on her watch, causing gym accesories to get in place. She snapped her fingers and a tall, thin referee came out of the shadows.

"The battle shall begin," the referee said, "Double Battle. Ms. Wolff and Mr. Nightshadow versus Miss Cassie."

Aaron nodded and whispered to Maria, "We need to use some good Water-types. I have Blaster on my side, and I'm going to use him. Who are you using?" Aaron toyed with Blaster's Pokeball, awaiting the commence of the battle.

[Gay]

Gabe was shaking as he entered the Gym.
"It's all or nothing...." he said.
He walked over to Cassie.
"Hello Cassie." said Gabe.
"Welcome trainer." she said.
"I've come here to challenge you." he said.
"I accept your challenge" she said.

It was going to be a 3 vs 3.

ROUND 1

Gabriel was shaking...
"Rhyhorn, I choose you!" said Cassie.
"Fine, Dratini you're up!" said Gabe releasing Dratini.
"Dratini, use water gun!" said Gabe.
"Rhyhorn, use Dig!" she said.
Rhyhorn dug a hole.
"Dratini follow him down there and use water gun!" said Gabe.
Dratini went insinde of the hole and used water gun.
Rhyhorn was hurt...
"Rhyhorn!" it growled aggresively.
"Dratini use water gun again!" said Gabe.
Dratini hit Rhyhorn this time.
"Nice hit!" said Gabe.
"Rhyhorn, Earthquake!" said Cassie.
Rhyhorn created a powerful earthquake.
"Dratini, jump to evade the Earthquake!" said Gabe.
Dratini jumped high, evading the earthquake.
"Dratini, twister then use a water gun." comanded Gabe.
The twister Barely did any damage towards Rhyhorn, but the water gun really affected it.
Rhyhorn had fainted.
Dratini started glowing.
It had evolved into a Dragonair!
"Congrats!" said Gabe to Dragonair.
"Now, return." he said to Dragonair.

ROUND 2

"Rhydon, I choose you!" she said releasing her Rhydon.
"Gyarados, go!" said Gabe releasing Gyarados.
(Rhydon is very slow, we might have an advantage.) thought Gabe.
"Gyarados use Surf!" said Gabe.
The Surf swamped Rhydon.
And it hit it hard.
"Now use Hydro Pump!" said Gabe.
The Hydro Pump hit Rhydon and it KOed it.

ROUND 3

"You're my last hope, I choose you Nidoking!" said Cassie.
"Gyarados stay." said Gabe.
"Gyaradoooos!" roared Gyarados.
"Gyarados use surf!" said Gabe.
The surf hit Nidoking hard, but he wasn't out yet.
"Nidoking, use Horn Drill!" yelled Cassie.
Nidoking KOed Gyarados with a single shot.
Gabe was really amazed.
"Err...Charizard go!" he said.
"Charizard,Fire Blast!" said Gabe.
Charizard used Fire Blastt and burned Nidoking.
"Nidoking use Rock Slide!"
Rocks went flying towards Charizard.
They hit him hard!
"Charizard Overheat!" said Gabe.
Charizard's body started glowing red, and it unleashed a huge blast of fire.
After all of the smoke was gone, Nidoking appeared fainted.
"Yeah!!! We did it!" said Gabe hugging Charizard.

"Gabe, you've proven your worth. Here, take this badge as a memory of this great battle." said Cassie handing Gabe the 8th Badge, the Earth Badge,
"Alright." said Gabe hugging Cassie.
"I'll come back for a rematch some other day, so be ready!" he told her.
"Hahaha...Alright." she said laughing.
"Bye!"
Gabriel planned on training some more before going to the Indigo League.

[bakaryu]

Bakaryu walked in the gym and already saw two people in a double battle with the leader. He thought this to be a good chance to watch other high leveled trainers in action. He leant on the wall to watch the trainers battle it out.

[B-G]

Barbie entered the gym"Hey Cassie I want a one on one match with you. Hello Gabriel watch how a pro handles things"

"Fine go Rhyhorn!" Her rhydon came out looking batle starved

"Go Venusaur!"Barbies Venusaur came out."Use razor leaf"

"Dodge then rock blast" Rhyhorn tried to dodge but got hit. It blasted some rocks at Venusaur

"Use Vine Whip to throw them back" Venusaurs vines extended and caught some rocks and threw them at the other rocks stopping them in their tracks."Solorbeam" Venusaur started to charge a solorbeam.

"It will take abit to charge so use take down to get closer and combine takedown with horn drill" Rhyhorn charged at Venusaur with take down with its horn spinning from horn drill

"Its not ready. Use vine whip to grab rhyhorn into place til the solorbeam is ready." While charging the solobeam, its vines extended towards rhyhorn, and wrapped around it. Rhyhorn was struggling and tried to walk to wenusaur and use horn drill despite the the vines trying to push it back. The solorbeam was now ready"Fire!" Venusaur launched the solorbeam and hit rhyhorn dead on. Rhyhorn fainted."Alright I have my eight badge"

Cassie walked over"That to was a great match. I also hope you do well." Cassies arm extended having the earth badge.

"Of course I will do well. I am one of the best." Barbie took the badge and started to walk out followed by Venusaur.

[Mariah Wolff]

Maria thought a moment, Water-types first then.... She pulled out Night's pokeball and threw it, sending her Dragonair into the arena.

[Gay]

Gabriel and Arcanine had entered the gym to see Barbie's battle.
"You just don't change..." said Gabe, dissapointed.
He headed outside with Arcanine by his side.

[iAaron]

Aaron smiled and hurled his Pokeball. "Go, Blaster!" Aaron's eager Wartortle growled in happiness. He was glad to get some fighting time. "Go, Rhydon!" Cassie sent out her hulking Pokemon, smiling as she twirled her hair. "Rhydon, use Earthquake!" "Blaster, jump up onto Dragonair's back!" Aaron looked at Maria. "Think of something, Maria!" The grounds started to rumble as Rhydon set up a solid piece of flooring to stand on. Small cracks slowly opened up. "Maria!"

"Cassie sent out her hulking Pokemon, smiling as she twirled his hair"
smiling as she twirled his hair...

Adam walked into the gym "3 pokemon VS 3 pokemon" Adam said standing at the end of the arena releasing Venus, Aero and Drake. "Okay Go Dugtrio, Rhydon and Nidoking"

"Solarbeam, Ariel Ace and Surf!"
"Dig, Horndrill and Take down"
The solar beam missed the Dugtrios as they dug underground. The Ariel Ace hit him in critical posotion damaging him badly. Dragonair hit the surf perfectly but was hit by the takedown.
Dugtrio-Fine, Nidoking- Badly Damaged Rhydon-Badly damaged
Venus- Fine, Aero- Fine, Drake-lightly scraped
"Venus aim your solarbeam at the ground were they're digging, Aero Ariel ace on Nidoking and Drake- use surf again!"
"Dugtrio pop up, Duble horndrill"
Dugtrio Fainted, Nidoking Fainted Rhydon Fainted
