OK guys, the time has come. I am gonna do like, a massive speech, so make sure you have some time. OverhaulAs many of you may know, I am going through sixth form (last year at school.) Now, I have a huge amount of work to do. And I mean huge. Like, 2 hours a day huge. And I obviously want to pass my exams. So, keep reading. Another factor has come to my attention. I am having to spend more of my time with my gf, and this, plus school and work, is eating up my time on the PC. Sometimes, I can only get on for a few minutes a day, and combined with SRPG, this can prove to be disastrous. So, this forum is going to need a new outlook. And I mean, new. With my lack of time, I have been inclined to leave it late, but it has become too much of a problem. I am going to address it. Operation OverhaulOperation Overhaul is basically a radical change to how the forum is run. I have been quite relaxed before, but now, some rules are going to be tightened. But other relaxed. I'll tell you now, to keep your interest, that legendaries will become available under the new regime. Stage 1: Stage 1 will be a forum cleanup. Many threads will be locked, and moved to a new board. Those threads will then be re-made, and re-instated. Stage 2: Stage two will be member checking. This will be deleting inactive members. Any member who has not logged in for a month will be deleted, unless they have more than 10 posts. If this is the case, they will be emailed and asked whether they intend to continue. Stage 3: Stage 3 is staffing. We will be reviewing the staffing on the site, and be looking at how well they are doing. We will also be promoting/demoting members. Any member asking to become a mod will be immediately put out of contention. Stage 4: Stage four is system management. The RPing process will be changed. This means: a) Gym battles will have to be modded, meaning more losses. b) Pokemon catching will be modded, so the rules cannot be broken. c) There will be stricter rules regarding use of PCs, and Pokemon on hand. d) The rules imposed for moving from place to place will be tightened. e) Levelling up with be monitored. This may seem bad, but thee are numerous bonuses. a) Some Legendaries will become available. b) Some other rare Pokemon will become available via events (e.g Dratini, Eevee.) c) There will be more staff. d) The forum will look better. e) The standard of RP will go up, and spammers will be sorted out faster. f) Hopefully, we can turn this large forum into a thriving centre for Pokemon Talk, RP, chat and wi-fi.
OK, that's all for the moment. Please reply and tell me your views, it is much appreciated. [bobdat]

Sounds good. I lik the rule about gy challenges. people who have pokemon on level 15 shouldn't be able to beat a gym who has pokemon in the 20's and 30's level wise.
I can also help out with the site of you need me to.

We really need to deal with all of the members. Out of 1,000 only about 50 get on every week.

Uh...when you said Pokemon Catching is modded, do you mean by if we catch it or not? Or do mods also spawn them and mod if we catch it or not?
I'm just wondering. Thanks!!

Hm. That's a good question. If you don't mind my two cents Harry... although I'm sure you would agree anyhow. I think that the staff wouldn't have to spawn the pokemon, simply because we tell what pokemon are allowed to be found in a region. Although then again, some do find rare pokemon rather quickly. Like, people found Pikachu right off the bat in Viridian Forest. If you look, you'd find that I actually role played out a long search for one. I didn't find one right away. So... I don't know for sure, but I don't know how much of a problem it would be to let the people pick what pokemon they find.
Harry?

it's not impossible to find say a pikachu right off the bat in viridian forest. One time I found a shiny pikachu right as I walked in the forest in my pokemon leaf green.
My cousin's 3rd pokemon to find on his emerald was a shiny tailow.
My point is that it's not impossible to find rares. I also agree with DS with the topic of it's okay to let people chose the pokemon they catch. I feel it's find for people to catch rares, as lng as they catch one every once in a while and not every battle.

Or you could have a thing where you are limited to 1 rare a week and 1 uncommon every day.

Dark Slayer: You are pretty much dead-on accurate.
Frappe: Yeah, I understand your point, and you make sense. I caught a shiny Whismur as soon as I walked into those caves near Rustoboro in Sapphire. However, with n00bs on this site, we need to worry more about probability than possibility.
Deoxys: Might work, might not. It would be more like... one rare every two weeks and one uncommon every week. Every day is way to much.
As for you chaps, I think it would be best if we do whatever we need to do in order to catch the Pokemon. Depending on it's commonality, we will judge their RPing or skill in catching it.
1. Common- Easy 2. Uncommon- Medium 3. Rare- Difficult
You need to do such:
Weaken Use Another Equal Level Pokemon Use appropriate Ball Gain will from opposing Pokemon (or honor)
The way you RP each of these would determine, well, if you caught it. You're ball would be shaking, and then you would either wait or PM an admin to reply, to see if you caught it. (A trustworthy admin, most likely Harry. If you are an admin, you should ask another admin for accountability to make sure you aren't extorting the site.)

I'm not entirely happy about how this is gonna turn out. but if it is for the better future of the site then it must be done.

Agree with you there, but there's nothing we can do, is there?

OK, lets have a looong quote... We really need to deal with all of the members. Out of 1,000 only about 50 get on every week. I know, and we'll be deleting inactive members. I'm not sure about doing a recount though... I don't know for sure, but I don't know how much of a problem it would be to let the people pick what pokemon they find. Harry? The member can spawn it, but the mod will be able to decide whether it is caught, or whether it's ridiculous. Like, a mod could delete the post from someone who instantly finds a shiny Dragonair. it's not impossible to find say a pikachu right off the bat in viridian forest. Care to share your luck? I have a combined 1000 hours of Pokemon Ruby Sapphire, Leafgreen, Pearl, Red, Silver, Yellow, Blue. I have never, ever ever seen a shiny in the wild. The closest I have come is seeing shinies in the GTS room. So obviously, they are rarer than you think. Or you could have a thing where you are limited to 1 rare a week and 1 uncommon every day. No, because after a bit everyone would have loads and loads of Pokemon, and that is really only for people who are very active. If you are an admin, you should ask another admin for accountability to make sure you aren't extorting the site.) Thanks for the explanations. The catching rules here are pretty good, will probably need revising, but otherwise basically correct. I'm not entirely happy about how this is gonna turn out. but if it is for the better future of the site then it must be done. TBH, I think it is for the better. The rules won't be that tight, and there will still be free RP. I may, after a while, just give certain members 'Freedom of the Forum' meaning that they don't need admin's permission to do stuff except make threads etc. E.g they would be able to catch Pokemon by themselves. That's about all... for now.
