Harry sat down to rest, on a flat part of the mountainside.
Ekans slithered into a coil next to him, tired out.
Harry decided to pitch the tent here, as it was a flat area, and there was lots do do around the place. He grabbed all the PokeBalls off his belt and threw them into the air.
Electrode, Nidorino, Beedrill, Bulbasaur and Gastly appeared in a few flashes of light, with Bulbasaur appearing last, making use of it's last few moments of rest.
Harry smiled. "Come on guys, we gotta get set for tonight! OK, Bulbasaur, go and collect some fire wood. Beedrill, see if there are any berries around, Electrode, you help.. Nidorino, help Bulbasaur. Ekans, get to work building a bed, we need big logs, and lots of leaves. Gastly, help Ekans. I'll put up this tent. OK, let's go!" Harry called, and all the Pokemon immediately set off to do their various jobs. Harry knew that Ekans could curb Gastly's humourous instincts, so Gastly was OK. Bulbasaur could easily sort out Nidorino if he started to mess about.
A few minutes later, Harry had got the tent up, and hammered the pegs into the ground. Ekans had found four large logs, with the help of Gastly, and they were now forming the Pokemon's bed. Bulbasaur and Nidorino had found plenty of firewood, and were now helping collect leaves. There was a large pile in the corner of the enclosure.
Beedrill returned soon after, arms full of Apicot berries. Harry smiled. "Great job!" Electrode rolled along after him, and buzzed happily.
A few minutes after that, they were all set. The leaves were still piled in the corner, and Gastly had that glint in her eye that Harry knew only too well. Nidorino backed up, and started to charge forward, and all the Pokemon watched.
The heavy Poison Pokemon smashed into the pile of leaves, immediately joined by all the other Pokemon, and Harry. They had a great time jumping on the leaves, spreading them all out.
After that, they made a fire out of the firewood, and Electrode lit it from a spark. They all huddled round the warm flames as is steadily grew colder and windier.
They all watched the sun set, then settled down for a good night's sleep.
Harry took off his cap, and put it under his head, to the sounds of snoring Pokemon.
The next morning...
Harry woke up as the sun rose, and felt the heat rising. The Pokemon were already up and awake, and were toasting the berries for breakfast. Harry scrambled over and joined them.
When they were all full, Harry put out the fire and they set off, hoping to get some good training in. They all knew that they could hike over the mountain easily on one day, but Harry wanted to do a whole 2 days of training, then the hike.
For the two days, Harry had planned a good regime. great for developing all the Pokemon's skills, such as Speed, Attack, Defense, that sort of thing. Everyone was looking forward to it.
They started off with exercises, just physical stuff. Harry did push-ups and sit-ups, and the Pokemon had races, sprints and long distance, all sorts of stuff. The Pokemon used this time as a time for comparing their performance with the others, and all wanting to be best at everything.
Then they moved on to Team Exercises, with the teams as:
Team A:
Beedrill
Gastly
Bulbasaur
Team B:
Ekans
Nidorino
Electrode
The did things such as 'collect as many leaves as you can in one minute', which were collected and used as fresh bedding for the next night, and relay races, navigation exercises, all sorts. These were highly competitive, often between Gastly and Nidorino, and all the other Pokemon joined in, having a laugh with all the banter going back and forth. Often, after these exercises, the two teams would challenge each other to new contests, such as 'who can dig the biggest hole.' These were great fun, especially if they were won by the winning team from the earlier exercises.
After the team games, Harry moved on to Skills.
This area consisted of Pokemon developing their Speed, Agility, Attack Power, Defensive Power, Accuracy. All the Pokemon turned this into a contest as well, like 'who can hit the center of the target six times in a row without missing.'
Attack Power was boosted by knocking over obstacles with certain attacks, such as Nidorino using Tackle Attack on a tree, and seeing if he could knock it over.
Speed was developed in races and fitness runs, and agility was boosted by slalom races, with lots of ducking, weaving and dodging. When some of the Pokemon ran the course, other would make it harder, by firing attacks at them, which they had to dodge. It was always a laugh if they got hit.
Defensive Power was developed by being hit by attacks from the other Pokemon, and seeing how well they could defend against it. The Pokemon also worked on developing their defensive moves, such as Haze for Ekans.
Accuracy was simple. Hit the target as much as possible.
Stamina was sorted by long distance runs, length of attacks, and simple endurance tests, such as holding breath or jumping up and down.
Reactions were next, which tested how quickly the Pokemon could react to having a Vine Whip come at them, or attack after the Trainer's command.
After the skill levels, the Pokemon had a rest for Lunch. The Pokemon often bickered about the contests while munching on their Pokemon food. Harry added extra energy supplements to their meals, as well as Vitamins such as Calcium and Iron.
After lunch, it was Battle Area.
Battle Skill was first. Battle Skill was tasks such as diving underwater, learning to swim, learning to climb trees, hide behind boulders, or hit Pokemon hiding behind Boulders. It was all about using the battle arena to their advantage.
Next up was Conditions. This was when the Pokemon used the condition to their advantage, such as Electrode's Thunder, which was a lot more powerful when it was raining, or Bulbasaur's Solarbeam, which was quicker to charge up in bright sunlight. All the Pokemon enjoyed this, as it meant they could show off their most powerful attacks.
After Conditions was Combinations. Combinations was how the Pokemon could work together to magnify attacks, deplete the oncoming attacks, launch more powerful attacks, etc. All the Pokemon loved working with Beedrill, who usually lifted up the other Pokemon so they could launch their attacks from the air, giving them a more powerful edge.
Harry was particularly pleased with all the Pokemon's favourite combo, which they called 'All-In.' It involved Electrode using Shock Wave, which was powered up by Gastly's Shadow Ball, powered up by Beedrill's Twineedle, powered up by Bulbasaur's Solarbeam, powered up by Ekans' Poison Sting, powered up by Nidorino's newly learnt Hyper Beam. It had a devastating effect, and it usually culminated in a explosion, which everyone liked.
After Combinations came Abilities. Abilities was teaching all the Pokemon about their unique ability, such as Gastly's Levitate, and Ekans's Intimidate. Everyone liked this as they ;earnt things about themselves that they had never known before.
After Abilities, it was Types. This was learning which types each Pokemon was powerful against, and which types they weren't. It was mostly just academical, and Harry usually cut it short, to make way for the final exercise.
The last thing was Practice. This involved random match-ups, and the two Pokemon had to battle, until one of them was hit by any attack. Then they would move on to the next opponent. This was everyone's favorite, because it meant that they could sort out any differences of opinion from the earlier trials, one-on-one. It also let the Pokemon put everything they had learnt into practice, and showed off their true power.
After Practice, there was another round of physical exercises to warm down, then it was supper, watch the sun set and play games, then a Night Exercise in the dark, such as Tracking (track another Pokemon to where they are hiding,) or Darkness Ambush (hide in the shadows, then jump out and ambush a passing 'guard' (Pokemon.) Gastly was especially good.)
Then it was bed, and both Harry and the Pokemon dropped off straight away, they were totally exhausted.
Harry lengthened the two days to 5 days, as all the Pokemon were having loads of fun. They had plenty of food.
After the five days, they packed up camp, making sure that everything was returned to where it was, then they finished their hike over the mountain, reaching the peak of the mountain at midday. All the Pokemon wanted to leave something to show that they had been, so they all planted a berry, 7 berries, 6 Pokemon + 1 Trainer, 7 days on the mountain. Everyone planted something different. They then left, arriving in Cerulean late. They had taken their time over getting back, none of them wanted to leave.
Harry then returned them to their PokeBalls for the first time in 7 days, and rode Beedrill back to Viridian, to put everyone's skills to the test, and challenge Cassie.
Ekans slithered into a coil next to him, tired out.
