Section 2: RPing Rules
1. Threads. There are community threads so that the forum doesn’t end up looking very, very messy. Do not make threads entitled ‘Pallet Town (open).’ There is already a Pallet Town thread, please use it.
2. Posts. You are free to post in any topic in the RP section. Please, try to do a set journey, such as:
Pallet Town – Viridian City – Viridian Forest – Pewter City, not:
Pallet Town – Celadon City – Cerulean City. It helps everyone RP with you.
3. Pokemon I: Areas. You may catch Pokemon that live in the area of where you are travelling. That does not apply to Pokemon found in Kanto in the games 'Pokemon Gold' and 'Pokemon Silver.' We already know that you can find Sentrets in Viridian Forest in those games, but you can't in FRLG.
4. Pokemon II: Levels. You can keep track of what level your Pokemon is, but it is optional. Obviously a newly caught Weedle is not going to be able to beat a Blastoise, whatever level you make it out to be.
5. Pokemon III: Starting Pokemon. You must start in a region at the Pokemon lab, as a trainer who has travelled there after an earlier journey through a different region, or as a new trainer. The Professor there will give you a Pokemon, which you can then train.
6. Pokemon IV: Rare/Legendary Pokemon. You CANNOT catch Legendary Pokemon. Not Mew, not Lugia. Rare Pokemon that are hard to find can be caught, but not frequently. Dragonairs do exist in the Safari Zone in Fuchsia City, but they are extremely rare, and almost impossible to find.
7. Pokemon V: Fairness. This is very important. When you challenge other trainers in a competition, you may not make up attacks and claim they are combos. You may not make your Pokemon learn a new attack halfway through a battle. You may not make your Pokemon hit every time with a OHKO. When you catch Pokemon, they are not super powerful and cannot beat Pokemon of a much higher level. Pokemon type match-ups do matter, and a baby Squirtle could never beat an experienced Venusaur.
8. Direct RP. This is where you directly RP with another member, such as having a conversation or battle. Do not double post in direct RP. If the other member stops posting, PM them to ask why, and move on politely.
9. Battling I. You are allowed to post whether your attack hit, you caught the Pokemon etc, if it is not controlled by another member. If you are having a battle directly with another member, they will post whether your attack hit, or not. I don't want to see battles where nobody ever hits.
10. Battling II. Challenges. You may challenge a member either via chat, or in their PC. They can choose whether to accept your challenge. Then you may decide whether it will be a 'Friendly' battle (one that has no significance in the RP,) or a 'RP' battle (A battle that has significance in the RP.)
11. Battling III. Chat. You may hold a battle via chat, and this will be used for League battles, unless the two challengers can never be on at the same time. Chat battles will be reffed live.
If you cannot use chat, you will have a RP battle, which will be reffed either live or not. The choice of battle is completely optional. In the Indigo League, the Chat option will be favoured over RP.
